Getting a nose ring can be a tricky process and its important to do it
safely. The following are some tips on how to get it done as safely as
possible.
Do not do it yourself.
Many people use needles and stick them in their nose. This can seem like a
good idea but more often than not is the cause of many infections. Unless
you’re an expert yourself, go to one who is.
Tattoo Parlors are a great place to go.
Get references and make sure they are well established. Ask them what type
of stud they will use and if it’s either sterling silver or gold.
Pick your stud carefully because it will be there for six weeks.
When you get your nose pierced you should not remove it for at least six weeks
to prevent infections and to keep the hole from closing. Leaving your
nose ring out even for a few hours can cause the hole in your nose to heal
preventing reinsertion. Pick carefully according to your personal preferences.
If you like the smaller ones you may have to get them after six weeks. Some
tattoo parlors won’t let you put that one in to start with because it can slip
out of your nose during the crucial stage.
Once your nose ring is in make sure you keep it clean.
A good parlor will give you cleaning solution to keep your nose ring clean.
If you don’t have cleaning solution wash it with soap and water and
occasionally put hydrogen peroxide on it. Something I have seen in friends who
did not keep their nose rings clean is they developed infections that would
result in large welts on their noses. Considering your nose is dead center on
your face, you do not want to risk such an unsightly situation.
When you dry your nose do not use towels.
During the first few weeks you will not be used to your nose ring and by
drying your face liberally with a towel the strands of string in the towel can
get caught on your nose ring leading to a lot of pain as you try to pry it out.
Use paper towels.
If you find yourself having trouble removing it go back to the parlor and
let them remove it.
By pushing and yanking on your nose ring you can end up scarring yourself or
causing an infection.
