If online dating isn’t your thing and you feel brave enough to approach a stranger, these tips could land you the girl of your dreams.
# 1: The local playground
If you like children and are family oriented, the playground is a great place to meet women. You’ll find a variety to choose from. From mothers, to sisters, to nannies, not all women in a playground are spoken for. If they are, they’ll be flattered by the attention and let you down easy.
Strategy: If you are by yourself, bring a book, the paper or your lunch so you don’t look like a pervert. The best thing would be to bring your dog (don’t forget your pooper-scooper) or your kids (bring appropriate gear). If you have neither, you can borrow some. However, don’t borrow a dog or children you are not familiar with or whose company you don’t genuinely enjoy.
Once you’ve spotted a woman you like, don’t go barging over. Try to observe her as unobtrusively as possible. If she catches you staring, smile. If she smiles back, walk on over. If she doesn’t, it could just mean she’s busy watching her kids or mentally preparing dinner. Watch for an opening. If she’s near her kids, take yours near them and strike up a conversation. If conversation seems to flow, you can make your pitch.
# 2: The Home Depot or other such stores
It used to be a place to pick up men but nowadays more women are into home renovation, decorating, and gardening. These stores are also hiring more female staff so you should be able to find suitable female companionship if you like the handy type.
Strategy: If you are an experienced handyman, hang out near the service counter and wait for a woman to ask a question. If the clerk can’t help her, jump in. You could also walk around until you find a woman who looks lost, confused or whose been staring at something for a long time. Don’t offer to help just yet. Go to that section and try to look competent. Compare products, measure things, take notes. If she still doesn’t ask for help, ask for her opinion about something. She’ll be more comfortable asking for your help if she thinks she’s helped you in any way. Once you’ve established a certain rapport, go to the next level.
If you’re not very handy, go to the decorating, gardening, or window treatment section and ask for help. It makes no difference if it’s a clerk or a customer; most women like to give their opinions about such matters and you won’t seem less of a man for not knowing what a café curtain is.
