University of Phoenix Online: A Review

The University of Phoenix Online started as a traditional university in 1976 and was one of the firsts to go online in 1989. It is currently the leading online university, with tens of thousands of students from countries around the world.

Format

One hundred percent online. Lectures and assignments can be downloaded into your home computer through the use of special Internet-access software. There are no live lectures to facilitate comprehensive access for everybody. A forum grants the students the chance to interact with each other and ask questions. A full line of research services and online libraries are available to the student. Contact between instructor/advisor and student are handled through email.

Degrees Offered

Associate Degrees:

At the moment, only an Associate of Arts in General Studies is available.

Bachelor Degrees:

Fifteen bachelor degrees of science are available in the areas of Business, Technology, Health Care, and Social & Behavioral Science. Examples include: Criminal Justice Administration, Management, Nursing, Business and Finance, etc.

Master Degrees:

Twenty eight degrees in all same areas as bachelor degrees, plus education, including a MA in Early Childhood Education, MS in Administration of Justice and Security, and a Master of Information Systems.

Doctorate Degrees:

Four are currently available: Business Administration, Management in Organizational Leadership, Health Administration, and Educational Leadership.

Continuing Education:

Available for Teachers only
