Flowers are a great way to brighten up anyone's day - and just about
everyone loves the sunshine they bring. The gift of flowers can say "I
love you", "Thanks", "Sorry" or even "It was nice
while it lasted." Here are ten situations where flowers are definitely
appropriate to get your message across:
Birthdays.
Know someone who has it all? Well, make a call to your florist and order up
a nice bouquet that they will be sure to enjoy. Or, if you grow your own prize
winning garden, cut, bundle and present them with a card.
Anniversaries.
Whether it be your parent's or your own anniversary, flowers can send just
the sentiment. Pick their favorites and include a poem or special message.
Valentine's Day.
This is probably the biggest flower induced holiday - but be creative and go
for something other than roses. Send a gorgeous orchid, a bundle of sunflowers
or a gardenia-laden bouquet. They will love it for sure.
Promotions.
Did your spouse or lover just climb up the professional ladder? Send them a
beautiful flowering plant for their new office - it may even last until the
next promotion.
First dates.
A first date can't go wrong if flowers are handed over during its inception.
Again, stay away from roses - go with something that is simple yet beautiful -
gerber daisies are always a good choice.
Births.
Millions of mothers receive flowers in the hospital during their stay after
childbirth, but why not go a step further - purchase a flowering bush or tree
(ask for their favorites before going the extra mile) or some great bulbs
(irises, poppies, etc.) and plant them before they come home. Drive in a stake
that reads the child's name, birthdate and what type of bush, tree or bulbs
were planted. The new parents will love it, and the new yard decorations will
grow with their child.
Secretary's Day.
Yes, she loves flowers too, so buy her some when the next Secretary's Day
rolls around. Get her favorite and include a lunch gift certificate in the card
- she'll/he'll be sure to tell all the other secretaries all about your
generosity.
Retirement.
Most people who are ready to retire have everything they need in life, so
give them some flowers instead. Their retirement glee will not soon fade since
their house will be filled with the sights and smells of beautiful freshly cut
flowers.
I'm sorry.
Actions speak volumes, and she'll think so too when her favorite bouquet
arrives at her home or place of employment. Write a humorous note or a touching
phrase to include in the card just to make sure all is forgiven.
It's been fun, but...
You know what, it is okay to send a "goodbye" bouquet to your ex.
Pick their favorite, send them a card letting them know that it was great while
it lasted but it's time to move on, and then do so.
