Nothing says “I’m woman, hear me roar” better than changing your look now
and then. Women are always looking for ways to do this – and the cheaper the
better. Here are fifteen great ways to add some spice to your overall
appearance without running up the credit cards.
The eyes have it.
You can read a woman just by looking into their eyes, so why not pay some
attention to your assets? Go to your local grocery store and pick up a black or
brown liquid liner and perfect the “cat eye” technique. Lining your upper eyes
in a thick liner adds depth and brings out your eye color.
But give them more.
When you are picking up that liner, why not pick out a single eyeshadow –
no, don’t go with the boring brown or taupe – get crazy. Blue eyes look great
with a light green or blue shadow, and brown eyes are sexy in purple. For about
$2, you can have a cheap pick me up on those days you need it the most.
Goodness, I’m blushing.
And who can go wrong with a great cheeky glow? You can find some cheap
liquid blush almost anywhere. Rub a small amount into the apple of your cheeks;
add some to your eyelids and then top off with mascara and clear lip gloss. You
are now a fresh, sexy woman ready for a field of wildflowers and your favorite
man or a day of book browsing with best friends.
Did you just get back from Jamaica?
Bronzers are the best way to capture that sun-kissed glow without soaking up
cancerous rays. There are so many on the market today – and you can pick one up
for less than $5 – and they last forever too! Dip your brush in the bronzer
powder, shake off the excess and then do a few swipes over your forehead, nose,
cheeks and chin. Girl, you look so tan!
Red says “va va voom”.
Go ahead and pick up that red lipstick – and actually wear it now and then.
There are so many shades on the market that any complexion can add it to their
lip collection – you will look sexy and vivacious.
Hair ties anyone?
Women with medium and long hair are always looking for a great hair tie –
and the pull back pony tail routine can look oh so professional. Find a few new
hair ties for a dollar or two each, slick back your hair with gel and tie them
on.
Add on's.
Don’t have the hair to pull back? For a few bucks (anywhere from $10-20 at
local retail and online hair specialty stores) you can purchase some hair add
on’s in whatever shade you happen to be sporting. The hair ad on’s come in
clips or pony tails, find one that works for you and wear it!
Cindy Crawford, move over!
Who can resist a sexy mole just over the mouth? If you don’t have the beauty
mark, then create it yourself. Take your already owned brown liquid liner or
matte pencil and make a dot just where you want it. This is great for sexy
dates or glamorous celebrations.
Tie me up.
A neck can be a woman’s best feature, so why not dress it up in something
other than necklaces? The next time you are shopping, pick up a scarf that
suits your fancy (they are so cheap and colorful) and wear it. They look great
with suits or casual wear.
You say man’s tie, I say belt!
Go through your man’s closet (or your father’s) and pick a few ties that he
hasn’t worn in years. Then, stitch the smaller end of the tie around a two
metal circles (about 1-2 inches in diameter), and presto, you have a new belt.
Wear it with your favorite jeans or around that sexy shirt you have hiding in
your closet.
Look at those ears.
Pick up a pair of sexy loop earrings at a discount store – the bigger the
better. Then, wear them with that new outfit sans any other jewelry. What a
fashion statement.
Dangles galore.
It was such a fashion statement in the eighties (the only one that really
warrants a second chance in many people’s opinion) and it’s back! Dangle
bracelets are sexy and fun – oh, and cheap. More than likely, you still have
them lurking around your attic or jewelry box. And if not, they are cheap,
cheap, cheap! Pick some up today and listen to yourself jingle to the office
with a smile on your face.
Capri’s with an edge.
Capri pants are still trendy and cute, but why not turn them up a notch?
Pick an old pair of jeans, measure and cut off the ends, then sew on some
great, vibrant fabric – silk, plaids, you name it. You now have your very own
uniquely designed Capri pants.
Old jean jackets make the best purses.
Take that jean jacket off the shelf – not this season’s newest, but the one
you have from high school – and cut off the pockets or cut out the back. Sew
the pockets together or fold the back into a rectangle or square, and stitch
the sides leaving the top open. Add some cool fabric as the handle (or your
man’s old tie). If you are really creative, iron on some cool patches for a fun
effect.
And old jeans make the best skirts.
Jeans never go out of style, but they can get some wear and tear over the
years. Rip the seams out of an old pair, cut until knee length, and then sew up
the outer sides. Then, cut up the left over jean material to fit in the center
of the skirt and sew up. It looks very chic and you’ll feel very artsy
strolling down the street.
