Too much stress can negatively impact your life in a variety of ways. Stress affects your physical, mental, and emotional health.

Physical Symptoms

Physical symptoms of stress include fatigue, tense muscles, tension or migraine headaches. In addition, people who suffer from stress have frequent illness, increased blood pressure or heart rate, and upset stomach. Stress depresses your immune system, making you more susceptible to illness and slowing the healing process. Symptoms of stress can develop into serious physical problems like heart disease or ulcers. Links have also been found between cancer and stress.

Mental and Emotional Symptoms

Stress diminishes your sense of well-being and can lead to anxiety, depression, or insomnia. There are also a variety of other symptoms that can result from stress such as irritability, negative thoughts, and the inability to focus. Stress produces emotions and disrupts your thoughts that reduce your happiness and productivity.

Suggestions for Finding Relief from Symptoms of Stress

Reducing your level of stress will relieve the above symptoms. Finding ways to remove stressors and relax is essential. Becoming organized and focusing on the important issues can help. Exercise and meditation can relieve tension. The support of others can cheer you up and help you cope with stressors. In addition, you should avoid negative thoughts while accepting your limitations.
