You may be aware that Merck and Co. pulled Vioxx, what was once touted the
amazing arthritis drug, off the market in 2004. What you may not have heard, is
that Merck and Co. should have been aware of the disastrous side effects
attributed to Vioxx back in the year 2000. Yes, it’s true. In June of 2000
there was evidence presented at the European League of Rheumatism that Vioxx
led to Hypertension- High blood pressure caused by Arterial Disease and
Myocardial Infarction- otherwise known as a heart attack.
How was Merck to Know?
Merck is not only a member of the European League of Rheumatism- but also a
corporate sponsor.
Merck and Co.: Keeping Quiet?
What was that you said? A pharmaceutical company would never try to cover up
something as horrible as feeding a cure all drug for arthritis to our Senior
Citizens while knowing they were at a 50% risk of developing strokes and heart
attacks!
The evidence is not only staggering; it is overwhelming.
Merck on Trial
Carol Ernst of Texas took Merck
to task in the first civil trial against the pharmaceutical company over the
death of her husband Robert. The first Vioxx Federal Trial is scheduled for November 24, 2005. This will be the
trial to watch, if successfully proven that Merck did in fact cover up evidence
(stemming back to June of 2000) they will be liable for up to 18 billion
dollars.
