Viva Madrid! Travel Tips

by Devrie Paradowski June 21, 2005

By the time most of us are waking up to our alarm clocks to get ready for the new day, many Madrilenos are just getting home from their nightly excursions.  The nightlife in Madrid usually does not start bustling until around 11pm, or midnight, so be sure not to arrive at a nightclub at 10pm. If you are in Madrid, and you are looking to start your day around 9-10pm, be sure to visit a flamenco cafe.  The flamenco cafes will be less expensive during the afternoon to early evening then they are during the night.  Also, be aware that dinner does not usually start until approximately 10pm.  Once the nightlife gets going, it usually lasts until around 3am-4am.

Where Should We Go Next?

  • Bar Ventorillo-- Listen to live music while enjoying a great view and having a few drinks. Where is it?  Campo de Casa.
  • Cafe de Oriente--Europe means café, right?  Enjoy some Spanish coffee in a setting that can only be found in Spain.  Where is it?  On Corral de la Moreria.
  • Ya'sta!-- You don't want to miss the Madrileno nightlife!!  Visit this club for a buzz of engery.  Where is it?  On Calle de Valverde.
  • El Son--See live salsa shows or even take a salsa lesson or two.  Where is it?  Calle de la Victoria.
  • La Solea - A visit to Spain definately warrents a visit to a Flamenco Bar, and this one has been called the last one in Madrid.  Where is it?  Calle de la Cava .
