The Basics about Colon Cleansing

by Kealoha Wells August 03, 2005

Waste Removal

There are several ways to cleanse the colon:

Laxatives can be used as temporary treatments for constipation and will reopen the flow, but they do absolutely nothing for the compacted waste.

Enemas will remove material from the lower part of the colon and are useful in emptying the rectum, but like laxatives are ineffective for clearing out the build-up.

Herbal supplements containing pysillium husk are available in pill or capsule form. A bulk-forming laxative, the husk swells when it comes in contact with water. The resulting bulk expands and acts as a hard sponge as it works its way through the digestive system. It is effective for short term bowel emptying and removes much of the toxic waste.

Colon hydrotherapy is a process in which a tube is inserted into the rectum and the colon is flushed with filtered water. The water is then suctioned out, along with the accumulated toxic waste.

Oxygen-based colon cleansers receive the highest recommendation. While fiber products like pysillium scrape waste out the center a clog, this process removes the impacted stool and detoxifies the entire colon. This is by far the most effective way to clear away the years of toxic material stored in the waste build up in your colon.
