•  Infections from contaminated needles (HIV, hepatitis B and C, endocarditis – inflammation of the inner lining of the heart, which can be fatal)            
• Liver cysts, jaundice and tumors           
• Fluid retention                      
• Hypertension              
• Blood clots    
• Higher cholesterol           
• Acne               
• Kidney tumors             
• Emotional effects – Aggression, depression, irritability, delusions, impaired judgment           
• In males, baldness, enlarged breasts, infertility, shrinking of testicles and reduced sperm count               
• In women, deepened voice, changes in the menstrual cycle, baldness, growth of facial hair      
• In children, puberty may be accelerated, and stunting of growth may be permanent as bones stop growing
