Route 66 Drive-In Theatre: A Blast From The Past

by Lee Ann Sontheimer Murphy September 06, 2005

Things You Need To Know About The Route 66 Drive-In

Route 66 Drive-In Theatre re-opened to the public in August of 1997. Because the business caters to families, no films with a rating beyond PG-13 is shown. Current prices are $5 per adult, $2 for children, and children in car seats are free and the Route 66 is open Friday through Sunday during the season. That season extends from the first weekend in April through mid-September. Gates open at 8pm; shows begin at dark.

Like many of the traditional drive-ins, the Route 66 offers a playground in the area before the big screen where kids can play before the show and during intermission. A fully stocked concession stand offers hot buttered popcorn, quarter pound hot dogs, candy, soft drinks and giant pickles.

The Route 66 Drive-In Theatre is located on Historic Route 66 in Carthage, Missouri.
