Exploring Baltimore's Inner Harbor

by Tracy Bolton Jones May 26, 2005

Sports

Baseball fans will want to take in a game at Oriole Park at Camden Yards to watch the Baltimore Orioles baseball team. The park blends well with the downtown area and the close proximity to all the other attractions makes it very appealing. Tours are also offered at the Park in the late morning and early afternoons seven days a week.

Home of the NFL football team the Baltimore Ravens, the M & T Bank Stadium, welcomes football fans of all ages. This stadium is also located at Camden Yards, making it the first dual-stadium complex in the country.

Food & Shopping

Being around and on the water all day usually creates a craving for seafood. Diners will be pleased with the wide selection of restaurants in the Inner Harbor where not only the food is delicious, but the views are outstanding. Many of the restaurants have covered decks, or tables with umbrellas, so you can continue to enjoy the outdoors. Seafood, steaks, pizza, barbecue, hot dogs – fine dining and snacks – all are available within the Harbor.

Harbor Place is home to over 100 shops and more than 50 places to eat, from sit-down restaurants to sidewalk kiosks.

For another “indoor-outdoor playground” Power Plant Live offers food, music and dancing. Housing Barnes & Noble, Hard Rock Café, ESPN Zone and many others, the Power Plant has become a favorite destination for the nightlife.

Accommodations

There are numerous lodging options available within the Inner Harbor for overnight, or longer, stays. From bed-and-breakfast inns, to boutique hotels, to chains, the Harbor offers accommodations for every budget and lifestyle. There are also pet-friendly locations available. Many of the hotels offer packages to include meals and/or tickets to area attractions. Be sure to ask for packages available when making reservations.
