An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.
Warn children about the risks
of walking barefoot in public places.
Tell them to protect their
feet with shower shoes, thongs or rubber swimming shoes.
Encourage them to wash their
feet with soap and warm water or disinfectant after swimming or changing
in the school gym.
Encourage them to change
their socks and shoes daily, and keep their feet dry and clean.
Check your children’s feet
periodically. Do not ignore growths or changes in the child’s skin.
The sooner the plantar wart is discovered, the better the chances of
effective treatment. Total prevention may be impossible, but early detection is
important because a small wart is easier to treat before it spreads or grows
bigger and more entrenched in the skin.
