Get a Great Complexion

by Laurie June 10, 2005

Visit a Professional

The above tips will be enough for most people. However, some people will continue to have skin problems despite the best habits. If you are among this group, visit your doctor. Certain prescriptions medicines are known to reduce acne. The birth control pill, for example, has helped many women achieve a better complexion. Accutane, a medicine that is specifically designed to fight acne, might be a good option for you, too. Both drugs can have serious side effects, though, so thoroughly discuss your options with your doctor.

Other treatments, such as microdermabrasion, may also help improve your complexion. Although at-home microdermabrasion kits do exist, you should probably consult a professional to make sure that the procedure will help, rather than hurt, your skin.

Remember – It’s a Common Problem

Most people suffer from acne at some point in their life. Some people get it over with during their teenage years, while other battle bad skin well into their forties. Whether you have an occasionally pimple or a continuous cycle of breakouts, you are not alone.

Of course, just because acne is a common problem, that doesn’t mean you are any happier about it. But even if you never achieve flawless skin, you can achieve good skin through proper care. Follow the above advice carefully, and seek professional help if you do not see any improvements.
