The Hunting Island
lighthouse is located in Beaufort within the Hunting
Island State Park.
This lighthouse was established in 1859 and is no longer operational. It was
originally constructed of curved cast iron plates bolted together so that it
could be moved easily. Due to erosion the lighthouse did have to be moved in
1889. The interior of the lighthouse was then lined with brick to make it more
stable.
