While Rupert became one of "Survivor’s" most loved
contestants, his Season 7 co-star Jon Dalton, AKA “Johnny Fairplay” became one
of the most hated. In an inspired piece of deviousness, during a rewards
challenge that involved contestant’s loved ones and friends, Jon’s friend told
of the death of Fairplay’s grandmother. Jon was allowed to win the event – getting
to spend a day with his friend while the other contestants let their spouses
and loved ones leave after a brief hug – and garner huge sympathy points.
Of course, it was a lie. The two had come up with the plan
previously. At last report, Johnny Fairplay has entered into the world of
professional wrestling as a manager, while his grandmother is doing fine.
Season 8: All-Stars
Location: Pearl Islands (same locale as Season 7)
Winner: Amber Brkich
Additional Winner: Rupert received $1 million via a vote of
fans of the game’s most popular players.
Synopsis: Eighteen of the game’s most popular members came
back for the hugely hyped “Super Season” of "Survivor". Early on, the non-naked
Jenna Morasca quit with concerns of her mother’s health, and Sue Hawk quit
after spazzing out over being bumped into by a naked Richard Hatch. For fans of
a love story, the season was bliss as Rob Mariano and Amber became an alliance
of two, fell in love, dominated the game, blah blah blah, and eventually Amber
beat Rob in the final with Rob proposing marriage. It was almost annoyingly
sweet, but again, "Survivor" fans had found their villain(s) and rating soared.
Season 9: Vanuatu
Winner: Chris Daugherty
Synopsis: With the tibes gain divided by gender, the
women’s side dominates. Eventually the game comes down to seven players – six
females and Chris. Remarkably staying
alive, Chris Daugherty eventually beats Twila Tanner 5-2 to become one of the
more surprising millionaires.
Season 10: Palau
Winner: Tom Westman
Synopsis: There were twenty contestants to start the 10th
season, with two contestants being thrown off after the initial picking of two
tribes of nine. The tribes are called Ulong and Koror, though feel free to not
remember Ulong. Koror became the first tribe to win every immunity challenge,
with Ulong’s Stephenie LaGrossa becoming the first contestant to spend a night
alone at her camp. It came down to the members of Koror back-stabbing and
betraying one another a few times before firefighter and all-around hot older
guy Tom Westman destroyed Katie Gallagher 6-1 to become the show’s latest $1
million winner.
