Have a fun time at the two miniature golf courses in the area. One is located at the Westport Family Fun Center; the other, which is the most challenging, is at the Kenanna RV Park in Grayland. Whichever you chose, the entire family will have lots of putting fun at these beautifully maintained courses.
Nature Trails
There is a beautiful nature trail at Grayland State Park. It is an enjoyable and a way for the kids to get rid of pent-up energy. There’s a fantastic nature trail at Twin Harbors State Park. Be sure to walk them both for awesome nature experiences.
Oyster Beds
When you approach the Elk River Bridge, look to the north when the tide is low to see the area’s oyster beds. If you’ve never seen an oyster bed, it is an interesting sight.
Old Whaling Station
In bygone days, whaling was legal in the State of Washington. Just upstream from the Elk River Bridge is the old whaling station. Since whaling is now illegal, this site is historically significant, though it has been allowed to deteriorate. Even in its present condition, it is still an intriguing sight.
Scuba Diving
If you enjoy scuba diving, bring along your gear. The ocean in the Westport area is alive with life and the sea creatures will make your dive worthwhile. Diving in this area is an awesome experience and one you won’t want to miss.
Shell Collecting
Comb the beach from South Jetty to Tokeland at low tide. An abundance of shells wash up on the beach. Kids will especially enjoy this activity and will pick up a nice collection of various shells.
Shoalwater Bay Casino
If you enjoy gaming, be sure to visit the Shoalwater Bay Casino. They have a wide variety of both slot machines and table games. Who knows, you might even go home a little richer.
Storm Watching
Are you a storm watcher? Is there nothing you enjoy better than a good storm where lightning flashes across the sky, thunder roars and rain pours down in buckets? If you enjoy watching a ferocious storm, visit the Grayland/Westport area in the winter months. This is the time when the Pacific gets rough and watching the surf pound to shore is a most rewarding experience, as swells often reach a height of 25 feet.
