It’s important to remember that, while there are still some practices in existence which may be viewed as a violation of the animal rights laws, society has come a long way in its restructuring of the treatment of these creatures. It should also be noted that, through the efforts of these often heroic animals, great strides have been made in the areas of behavioral and medical research, as well as other knowledge-based arenas. Although most of us would agree that some of the stories of the primates that were acknowledged in this article may have included tragic lives – or deaths – had it not been for their valor, the human experience might have suffered a diminishment of quality, indeed.
