Concerned Women For America Concerned Women for America is a conservative Christian group that is active in politics in the United States. The group was founded in 1979 by Beverly LaHaye, and currently claims over 600,000 members. It counts as a member any individual who makes a donation to the group, no matter what amount; presumably, there are fewer than 600,000 individuals currently active in the group. National Organization For Women National Organization for Women (NOW) is an American feminist group founded on June 30, 1966 in Washington, D.C. by women attending the Third National Conference of the Commission on the Status of Women. Among the 28 founders were Betty Friedan, author of The Feminine Mystique (1963), who became NOW's first president, and Rev. Pauli Murray, the first African-American woman Episcopal priest. Molly Yard was president from 1987 to 1991. During the 1970s NOW promoted the Equal Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. In 1966 they introduced the "Statement of Purpose". In this document they outline the basic demands and ideals of the American feminist movement of the time.

The Baltimore Charter For Women In Astronomy The Baltimore Charter for Women in Astronomy is a document created by Drs. Meg Urry, Laura Danly, and Ethan Schreier (all STScI) to address the concerns of women as a minority group in the field of astronomy. The document was presented to the American Astronomical Society (the premier professional organization in the field) in June of 1993.
It includes recommendations on affirmative action, family leave, and physical safety.
Association For Intercollegiate Athletics For Women The Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women was founded in 1971 to govern collegiate women’s athletics in the United States and to administer national championships. It evolved out of the Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics (founded in 1967). The association was one of the biggest stepping stones for women’s athletics on the collegiate level. After conflicts with the NCAA in the early 1980s the AIAW discontinued operation and most member schools continued their women's athletics programs under the governance of the NCAA.
March For Women'S Lives The March for Women's Lives, held April 25, 2004, was perhaps the largest protest ever held on the Mall in Washington, D.C.. It was in favor of abortion rights and against George W. Bush. March organizers claimed 1.15 million people attended; other estimates put it at more than 800,000. Either number would make it the largest protest in United States history.
